Over the weekend I was watching Olympic sculling. In this event, two or four rowers propel a light racing boat as efficiently as possible. For me, watching sculling is like observing a well integrated EA program. The focus is not on the rower (i.e. EA program), but the forward momentum and velocity of the boat (i.e. IT pursuit of business outcomes). Each rowers action is synchronized with the other rowers.
I can imagine a sculling team that is just beginning as the boat darts one direction to another. Over time the team synchronizes its movement, through communication and working together. I don't think that you could row a straight line if one rower decided to just bark out orders for the others to get in line. No instead, the synchronization of the team results from working together and looking for integrated movement and forward momentum.
